Recipe for Today

CREAMY GARLIC MASHED POTATOES
Recipe courtesy Alton Brown

Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 30 minutes
Yield: 10 to 12 servings

3 1/2 pounds russet potatoes 16 fluid ounces (2 cups) half-and-half 6 cloves garlic, crushed 2 tablespoons kosher salt 6 ounces grated Parmesan
Peel and dice potatoes, making sure all are relatively the same size. Place in a large saucepan and cover with water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat and then reduce heat to maintain a rolling boil. Cook until potatoes fall apart when poked with a fork.
Heat the half-and-half and the garlic in a medium saucepan over medium heat until simmering. Remove from heat and set aside.
Remove the potatoes from the heat and drain off the water. Mash and add the garlic-cream mixture, salt, and Parmesan; stir to combine. Let stand for 5 minutes so that mixture thickens and then serve.

Verse for the Day

"And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away they cloak forbid not to take thy coat also."

Luke 6:29

Orlando

We are thinking about visiting Orlando for the children's birthday. We reside in Southwest Florida, so we can get there by about a 2 hour drive. Did you know that besides Disney, Orlando's history is over 150 years old? Cattle raising was the primary way to make a living. Once the railroad was put in in 1880, our citrus market rapidly expanded. The mid 1920's was the time that tourism really came about for the Orlando area. Tourism in Orlando is obviously worth billions of dollars, and offers great employment opportunities there. The job market there is huge compared to where we are. The offer great golf-commuties, upscale living and great schools. Downtown Orlando is absolutely amazing. So if you plan a trip that way, just remember there is alot more than Mickey to visit. Depression

I have noticed that many people I know have been considered 'clinically depressed' at one time or another. This really is a serious condition, which may need medical attention.
Have you lost interest in your hobbies?
Lost the motiviation to do your everyday job/chores?
Feeling tired all the time?
Can't sleep?
Can't wake in the morning?
Gained/lost weight?
Fear of death?
Feelings of hopelessness and listlessness?

All of these and more are signs of depression. Here are some websites to get more info. Don't go untreated... at least read up about it. It really can change your life.

I have tried a few online sites to make some extra cash. Obviously one of the biggest is eBay.
I am going to go through some video games and clothes today and set up a few listings on eBay.
I also joined www.inboxdollars.com but you have to reach $30 for them to send a check and it can take a while to get there.
I am trying www.heliumknowledge.com which pays for you to post what you know or give your opinion. I am not sure yet if this is profitable.
If you are crafty, try www.etsy.com or www.hyenacart.com
I am going to look through some others today. It gets a little frustrating trying to read through them all and see if there is proof of money made, etc... but I am trucking along!

First Day of Blogging

I was thinking that I really wanted a blog. Now I have set it up and was wondering "what should this be about?" Well, I guess it should be about anything and everything! So I am going to start posting about working from home (or trying to), coupons, freebies, recipes...
Today I spent hours looking into some new work from home ideas. I am currently working for a company as an independent contractor, but the work is really slowing down. I think I have taken in WAY too much information today about per click sites, posting opinions, etc. I have to declutter in my head and then I am going to post some of the ones that seem good.
